The Challenge
PaySprint, a mobile payments and card platform, faced unprecedented tracking degradation across iOS Safari and Brave browsers due to third-party cookie deprecation and ad-blocker adoption among tech-savvy users.
Their analytics showed an alarming 32% discrepancy between backend account activations and reported conversions in Meta Ads and Google Ads. Because the bidding algorithms could not see 1 out of every 3 acquisitions, automated bidding was throttled, driving Cost Per Funded Account up to $64.
Technical Architecture & Implementation
1. First-Party Server-Side Tagging
- Built a dedicated server-side Google Tag Manager environment hosted on Stape.io Cloud.
- Mounted the tracking domain under PaySprint’s primary domain (
data.paysprint.com) to bypass browser ITP 7-day cookie limitations and ad-block DNS filtering. - Extended
_fbp,_fbc, and client ID cookie lifetimes to 180 days with secure HTTP-only cookie headers.
2. Dual-Stream Event Deduplication
- Instrumented client-side and server-side tracking tags with synchronized
event_idgeneration. - Sent user parameters (SHA-256 hashed email, phone, city, state, postal code, browser IP, and User-Agent) through Meta Conversions API (CAPI).
- Attained a 99.4% Event Deduplication & Match Quality Score across
Lead,CompleteRegistration, andInitialDeposit.
3. GA4 Raw Data Streaming to BigQuery
- Directed full hit-level GA4 event streams to Google BigQuery.
- Built automated SQL scripts to measure true cross-channel multi-touch attribution (First Click, Linear, Position-Based, Data-Driven) in Looker Studio.
Outcomes
- Conversion Signals Recovered: +32.4% additional verified conversions credited in ad platforms.
- Cost Per Funded Account: Slashed from $64.00 to $48.60 (-24.1%).
- Attribution Match Quality: 9.4/10 on Meta CAPI.
- Monthly Net Active Accounts: +4,200 accounts.
